Convenience is what recommends this recently renovated older, low-rise hotel on Kahului harbor. You're ten minutes from the airport (they'll pick you up) and well placed to get anywhere else on Maui quickly. |

Ka'anapali Beach Hotel |
Everybody smiles at you with real aloha. The housekeepers sing beautiful songs to you. There's a free sunset hula show every night in the Tiki Courtyard. You can learn to make a lei, dance the hula and use Hawaiian plants for healing or crafts. There's an island arts; and crafts fair Friday morning. A few of the reasons the friendly and comfortable Ka'anapali Beach Hotel is called Maui's most Hawaiian hotel. ![]() What you see from your lanai is spectacular Ka'anapali Beach with great snorkeling at Black Rock. You can walk to two championship golf courses or the Whalers Village Shopping Center. The food is 'ono' (delicious) and 'keiki's' (kids) are special guests at what has to be the best hotel value on Ka'anapali Beach 2525 Ka'anapali Parkway (808) 661-0011 |

on the beach. There are 194 air-conditioned rooms with

Comfortable
friendly, older resort, recently absorbed by Aston (in turn
absorbed by Outrigger) on the north end of Kihei right
across from the beach. Reasonable priced rooms, tennis
court, swimming pool, Longhouse restaurant and lounge. (800)

Truly
an island of tranquility, understated and impressive. An
Oahu friend of ours prefers to come here to rest and
regroup. Large luxurious rooms with lanai, enormous marble
bathrooms. Attendants on the pool terrace bring you
complimentary towels and chilled Evian. your shoes get
shined while you sleep. Fitness center, weight room, kids
program focused on Hawaiian culture and nature. (808)

Money shows
here, all $600 million. A water playground ($30 million),
museum quality artwork ($15 million), 12 lounges, 5
restaurants and a 50,000 square foot marble spa. Worth
walking around and ogling as tops in the "resort as
sightseeing attraction." Recently sold for $234 million
making it tops in "the best laid plans" division as
well. |
One of our
favorites, starting with the whitewashed concrete Arabian
domes arches and tents. There are 450 two room large suites
and some 2 and 3 bedroom villas nearer the beach. Marble
baths with "love tubs", entertainment centers, the works.
Two restaurants and three pools. Great for families and
honeymooners. (808) 875-4100

Five rustic
chalets about 3,000 feet up the volcano. Great view, good,
sometimes excellent, restaurant and interesting gift shop.
Cool breezes, pine trees and eucalyptus remind me of Big
Sur. (808) 878-2517 |
Not kidding
about the clouds. We take our Sunday morning walk along the
road that leads to this charming place. Quiet pastures with
100 mile views across the ocean far below. Six guest rooms
in an old ranch house, each one decorated differently (white
lace, bamboo, black lacquer). Six modern studio
apartments. |
